Transition to Low Carbon Economy and Efficiency

The aim of the Transition to a Low Carbon Economy and Efficiency working group, which is one of the five focus areas of SKD Turkey; is to share the knowledge and experience of the business world about the policies and regulations in the field of climate change, to participate in the discussions in this field and make a constructive contribution, to guide the business world in our country to adapt to climate change by making use of the international structure of WBCSD, to ensure that good practices from around the world are transferred to our country and provide guidelines.

Transition to Low Carbon Economy and Efficiency Focus Area Studies

For this purpose, among the activities of the Transition to a Low Carbon Economy and Efficiency Working Group, an integrated environmental management system and communication project that started in 2015 and digitalized in 2022 named DUYARLI OL! (do!); which is an integrated environmental management system that aims to create a sustainable living culture within the institution and at the same time serve to transform the employees of the institution into responsible individuals in the daily life of resource consumption and recycling, by guiding corporations under five headings including governance, sustainable purchasing, energy management, water management, and waste management is in progress.

We aim to guide the business world in the transition to a low-carbon economy through masterclass training series and presenting reports of our umbrella organization WBCSD, which will guide companies on net zero carbon by translating them into Turkish.

Declaration on Energy Effyciency In Buildings

In the whole world, consumption of energy in buildings constitutes the major part of total energy consumption. With this declaration, we promote energy efficiency practices in buildings.

Step by Step EEB

This roadmap designates the steps to be taken by the companies which desire to determine a strategy for energy efficiency in their buildings. The companies will be capable of measuring, monitoring and decreasing the energy consumption in their buildings, following these steps one by one

Step by Step EEV

Energy efficiency in vehicles constitutes an important element of a company’s strategy for energy efficiency, and this roadmap designates the steps that should be taken in order to monitor and decrease the energy consumption arising especially from company fleets.

Step by Step EEI

Following the steps determined within the framework of this roadmap, companies will be able to create a strategy for energy efficiency in their industrial operations. Thus, such companies will decrease their energy consumption, and consequently, increase their efficiency.

 
 

Field Trips

In line with the requests from its group members, BCSD Turkey’s Energy Working Group organizes technical visits to the factories and facilities of its member companies throughout the year. The purposes of these visits are, mainly, observing energy efficiency practices on-site, and making good practices widespread.

Seminars

Seminars are organized by the Energy Working Group to increase the awareness about energy efficiency and share information on subjects such as global developments, changes in the legislation and new concepts.
