Why Agriculture and Food?

Directly Linked to the Planet’s Carrying Capacity:

Agriculture and food play a key role in combating the climate crisis and conserving natural resources, as they account for a significant share of global greenhouse gas emissions and water consumption.

Ensures Food Security and Justice:

In the face of rising population, urbanization, and inequalities, sustainable food systems form the foundation for ensuring accessible, nutritious, and safe food for all—placing them at the heart of social sustainability.

Reduces Economic and Social Vulnerabilities:

Agriculture is a primary source of livelihood, particularly for vulnerable groups such as young farmers, women, and rural communities. Supporting these groups strengthens economic inclusivity and local development.

Where Circularity and Local Resilience Begin:

Local production and consumption cycles not only reduce the carbon footprint but also help communities remain food-resilient during times of crisis.

Creates a Leverage Effect in Policy and Systems Transformation:

Agriculture and food systems intersect with numerous areas, including land use, energy, health, trade, and employment. This makes investments in this field high-impact and multiplier in effect.
